Standing on the Rock!

A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight. 
Proverb 11:1

This was my third attempt trying for a motorbike license. The first two became a failure. However I got it through on the third one!

February, 2014:- During the first try, I cleared the written test but could not manage to pass the practical test. I was asked to pay bribe of Rs 6000 so that people-in-charge could make my license ready. Well, this sounds strange for some of you! But this seems to be a normal practice here in Nepal, especially in our part. My friends were saying to me to pay bribe of Rs. 6000 and get a license. I did not feel comfortable with that. My conscious warned me very clearly that it was cheating! It was cheating to me, cheating to them, cheating to the Nation and most importantly it was cheating against God whom I honor. No, I should not listen to people. If God wants me to make it, he will help me to clear the test. And I was determined in heart no matter how many times I fail in the trial exams but I will keep giving exams.

May, 2014:- During my second attempt, I was so hurry to start my journey to India and unfortunately there was a written test for the motorbike license on the same day. I just rushed to the exam center and appeared in exam. Not realizing any instruction, I responded question sheet in English and finished it up soon. Alas! Although there were no mistakes in answers, I could not clear exam. Later on, I discovered that an examinee should respond answers in Nepali only. Thus, I could not pass written test. After then, I went to Kathmandu due to some work. While I was there, I got a call from the transport department of our region, and was asked if I am ready to pay Rs. 10,000 and get a license. I said, "Even if you freely provide the license, I am not going to take it. I will appear in exam no matter how many times I have to try but I will make sure that I pass it through." My friends used to say that I would never get it through in the test. It is so difficult to pass the practical test. Therefore, it is better that I pay some money and get the license ready. But I was determined to listen what my conscious was saying, and not to pay attention to those suggestions.

May, 2015:- During my third attempt, I cleared my written test and I was wondering how it will go with practical test.  God graciously helped me to clear the exam too.  The work is done.

Application: It is always difficult to stand on integrity. The result may not be so fast. Many do not like this road.  Don’t think that you would be alone on this narrow road. But, I tell you, when you stand and walk on this narrow road, you will feel such a joy and contentment that you walk freely in rest of your lives. Let us not try to make false balance with this world. The world may insult us. But God honors our honesty and integrity. A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight. (Proverbs 11:1)
