Peace of God: Our resting place

Not much we hear on ‘Lent’ in Nepal. However, I think it is very helpful if one does not consider it as a religious event rather a time of reflection and preparation and learning!  Lent is the period of 40 days which comes before Easter in the Christian calendar. It begins on Ash Wednesday.
Let us look at the text for today’s meditation.

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)

Yesterday, I received a call and my friend said that our facilitators, who are supposed to help us in the training, are getting delayed due to a sudden change in the flight. One of them is not keeping well and resting in Kathmandu. Two of our participants could not make it on this training due to some emergency. My wife’s struggle continues. Situation is very demanding and it sometime pulls us down in the track where I do not really enjoy the peace that I often talk and share. Paul’s word in the letter to Philippians is encouraging for all of us. No matter what circumstances and roads that we go through, the Lord will watch over us, guarding our hearts and minds in Him. This is amazing. The word “peace’ here is not what we hear often. It originates with Him. It has reference to Him. Our human mind does not really give us peace when things do not go as per our plan.

But the Lord who can give us peace which we even do not understand. Yes, the world cannot understand it. The Christian cannot understand it. Angels cannot understand it. It is so far removed from all that is material and sensible. Φρουρησει- we need a resting place and reliable source who could make us stand.
