God's love never fails

Today’s thought is on the ‘love’. The bible speaks a lot on this subject. One of my favorite text is Matthews 5: 43-48. ‘You have heard that it was said, “You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.’

These verses are commands spoken by Jesus. A command is not subject to negotiate, rather it is to follow by any means. This does not give us a choice. However the question comes in one’s mind. How am I supposed to love the one who constantly hates me? How am I supposed to care for the one who does not want any good for me? These are some of the practical issues that we human beings have struggled with. If one looks at human nature, we do see a series of conflict that we create. As a consequence, we have divided friendship, hardened our hearts, and broken our relationship. When God loved us, He loved us from the fullness. Have you ever realized that when we love others, we partly intend to resemble  the Lord’s love. But we have failed the track to show His love and opted very different path. We need to see some of the Greek concept to grab the whole idea. If we look at the Greek, the love can be divided into different categories. The Greek contains Agape (ἀγάπη- God’s love)- C.S. Lewis says ‘Charity’, Philia (φιλία-brotherly love), Storge( στοργή -family love) and Eros(ἔρως-husband/wife’s love). The moment human being fell from the Lord’s presence due to the sin, we lost the bond of Agape. Now we all intend to have the same, but we fail to grab it due to our nature. However, we do destine to get to the point of God’s love through different means. The exposure and posture of all our love activities shows that we do lack of God’s love which is the complete. In order to get to the complete, we are roaming all around the sphere of life. However, we never get satisfaction. For example, we love our friends. We love our children. We cry a lot if our beloved betray us. We are not able to satisfy ourselves because we are not at the point of the complete. We do this because we long towards the completeness, and try to fill the voidness that we have created. When one looks at the Agape, the whole things would turn into another shape. When we understand we are infinitely loved, we are enabled to love both our friends and enemies . Understanding his infinite love transforms our heart.
