Very interesting
thought indeed! Who gets success in
the examination (in Nepal) ? In one of the teachers' training program,
a speaker was saying that the people who are good at memorizing/
mugging up the fact and information gets success in the exams. And
this group usually come from the elite category or the high caste,
who often had habits of memorizing/chanting mantras from childhoods,
whereas the majority of people falls outside of this sphere. Their
upbringings did not have to do with reciting the fact, rather to
spend time with their parents and learn what and how they did.
Looking at Nepali scenario, the majority of people do not prefer or
like memorizing the facts/ mugging-up-learnings and they usually come from the poor or marginalized category. They are often neglected from mainstream
society and privileges. They might be expert in repairing a
van and know how to drive it but if you ask them to describe that in
theory, it may not be their cup of tea. In other way around, people
who are good at memorizing are expert at putting thoughts in paper or
theoretical description but if you ask them to put it into practice,
you may not get a good result.
This is how our
educational system is functioning. Our system prefers to have
theoretical knowledges. Our degrees could not solve things as these
diplomas were earned by memorizing. However, they were the one who
hold the power as the system was constructed in such way that it
never considered to those who learnt by doing rather by memorizing.

You are right Janak sir. Our educational systems needs more changes. In Nepal, we need more practical education.
