You are no longer a captive of your past!

Toplal, in the Banana Farm
Let us meet Toplal, who  actually  turned to be an emerging entrepreneur in my hometown. Many years ago, he came to Bardia, migrating from Salyan. Things were uncertain for Toplal, having many histories of failures and downfalls of his parents and grandparents. There are people who keep saying their today is a result of their past.  However, it was different for Toplal. Toplal did engineering but that did not work for him. Later, he moved to Israel for some years. None of his attempts were fruitful though. He viewed  things from a different perspective, not letting the past to hover on him. Now, Toplal is producing banana plants, and sells those plants to Farmers in Nepal. As per the government statistics, Nepal is importing 80% of bananas from India. 'Banana Farm does not require much labor. we need to pay few attention and that is enough.' says Toplal. Generally, plants are germinated for six months only, i.e. from January to May. The rest of the months, he spends time at his own banana farm.  Now, he looks at  business as a way to glorify the Lord. Many of his community people come and learn  business skills from him. He is not only earning from this,  it has also turned to be a  platform for many to come and get exposed. Together with this work, he is also pasturing a local congregation.

Many a time, people allow their past to determine their present and future. Looking at all biblical illustrations, we can see how people were in bondages allowing their past to rule over them. People can never see the freedom, having been ruled by their past over and over again. This is the problem that we do not see power  of the Cross which in fact separates the past and present, like a day and a night. When we look at the community, some people are feeling guilt over their past. For example, some families are scared if their children will go through a terrible situation as their forefathers had to go through a bad times. Sometime we hide our potentiality as our past was full of failure and we no longer want to give a second try. We keep scratching in the past for the present and future.

It is important for one to have a clear understanding of how he or she sees God and vice-versa. When we talk about the Cross of calvary, it is not just an event that occurred many yeas ago, rather it means every sins of those who believe in Him have been washed away, every infirmities have been healed, every brokenness have been gone, every guiltiness have been wiped out. The moment you are in him, you start a fresh life, a fresh beginning which has got no connection with their past.
