Update/June-2010

Jaimashi from Chennai

Thank you so much for the prayer. God's ways are wonderful. He leads in the way, we even can't imagine. Last two month in Delhi was so great and blessed time which I will never ever forget in my life. During the 12 years of my Christian Journey, I had heard from preachers, I had read in the Bible and I had even shared from it but never realized that TRUST IN THE LORD is not mere words rather it should happen in the daily walk. I was mediating from Psalm during my internship time. God's word kept repeating to me, 'TRUST, TRUST, TRUST……beginning from chapter 3. I was wondering why God wants me to read this again and again. Once, I came across the incidents where Jesus was in Jerusalem at the Passover. In the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did, BUT JESUS DID NOT COMMIT HIMSELF UNTO THEM, BECAUSE HE KNEW ALL MEN,......HE KNEW WHAT WAS IN MAN'.(John 2:23-24). This was like an alarm for me. Even Jesus didn't put his trust on men. He knew their hearts. Perhaps I missed the track of my Christian journey. Somewhere it needs to be corrected. What's the point of being Christian if my life doesn't' show the trust in God.

That's the way my Internship is going on. I arrived in Chennai and weather is cloudy and humid, but better than Delhi. I was wondering and praying for the place. God is so faithful and He will open the door when it seems to be over. Thank God that he opened the door for my lodging and fooding. Michael and Mam Merlin (who were in Nepal for long time, now they are in Chennai) opened their home for me. Good to hear Nepali voice (better accents than mine) from this Tamil family. They are so wonderful people, prayerful family. It’s a blessing for me to be with them.

3 days Literacy Teachers Training in PUNE has been encouraging to the local churches. However, we missed some of the participants from Mumbai. Teaching to adults was different than children which we were not aware. The local church conducted the literacy class in one of the slum area last year and the tutor started from a,b,c,d,  without realizing adults psychology.  And she had to stop the class after some months. We are thankful to have Christella who came all the way from Deharadun and helped us in Literacy Teacher Training (28th June - 1st of July). Hope, we will be able to conduct such trainings in other parts of India too. Literacy has been a big challenge even in this 21st century since our developing mind doesn't bother about the illiterate people. It was shocking to see the Nepali Churches, where more than 40% of people can't even read the Bible. We even ignore this fact and keep on thinking for the mega conferences and seminars. How can we expect the churches to become mature when they even can't read God's word by themselves? Who will take the initiatives when we, so called believers ignore this tragedy aside? This is my prayer that we will not only pray but start taking initiation.

I started the literacy class with ka, kha, ga, gha ( a, b, c, d). but it took me long time to teach the alphabets. They used to get tired and bored during the class hour. I found difficult to motivate the class. This training has been a great help to understand their psychology and it gave me lot of tips how can we teach and motivate. -Trainee

Thank you so much for your encouragements.

In Christ,
